Try making this simple wallet or tablet case made with fused plastic bags

This is a multi-purpose case made with fused plastic bags. The bags are simply fused together with an iron. The case can be used to contain small items, like jewellery, toiletries or make up, or could be made the right size to contain your tablet, kindle or laptop.

Step 1: Fuse the plastic bags

To fuse the plastic bags, you just need to iron a few layers of plastic together between some sheets of greaseproof paper.

You can read more about how to fuse plastic bags in my recycled wallet made with fused plastic bags tutorial.

Step 2: Make a template and cut out the plastic

I created two large sheets of plastic for the two halves of the case.

The first piece is rectangular, and is the same size as the final case will be, with about 1cm extra on each side (right and left) to fold over and glue the case together.

The second piece is a rectangle the size of the finished case, but with a triangular flap on the top and bottom.

Step 3: Fold the plastic flaps

Fold the triangular flaps and iron them so the folds are well marked.

Do the same for the 1cm side flaps on the first piece of plastic.

Step 4: Attach the magnetic clasp

Attach the magnetic clasp to the two triangular flaps of plastic. Make sure that they properly line up!

Glue the 1 cm flaps to the other piece of plastic which will become the back of your case. Then glue the bottom triangular flap to the front of the case. This hides the back of the magnetic clasp.

Step 6: Glue a piece of plastic over the back of the magnetic clasp

Cut a leftover piece of fused plastic to cover the back of the other half of the magnetic clasp. Glue it to the front of your case. You could also use a button, bead or other small object to cover the clasp.

Step 7: And you are done!

Your case made with fused plastic bags is now finished! Use it to keep your tablet safe, as a small clutch bag, or to contain small objects or documents.
