It seems an impossible notion given the striker has missed two months of the 2014-15 campaign already, but Luis Suarez can still go on to break his own scoring records this season.

Barcelona are free to give the Uruguayan his La Liga debut on October 25, when Luis Enrique's men will travel to the Spanish capital in what could be the perfect setting for Suarez to officially announce himself as a Blaugrana.

And despite the FIFA-imposed four-month ban putting a delay on his Camp Nou impact, Suarez has been in fine form of late with those matches in which he has been permitted to participate.

On Tuesday, the former Liverpool ace returned to the international setting and scored twice in Uruguay's 3-0 victory over Oman, per Barcelona's official Twitter account:

Granted, Oman won't be of the same standard that La Liga's finest defences might, but the 78-minute outing nevertheless shows that none of the attacker's scoring touch has been lost.

His training during suspension appears to have come along well, and spending time with Barcelona B will undoubtedly have lent itself in inducting Suarez to the Catalan way of things, albeit not on a first-team level.

So, what obstacles has the striker got to overcome to achieve those career-high numbers? Altogether, Suarez has missed out on nine games so far this term (seven in La Liga, two in the Champions League).

With the Copa del Rey set to introduce top-flight teams later this month and Barca promising to advance far in all competitions, that gives Enrique's new talisman a maximum of 49 matches in which to break previous bests.

The hitman did net 49 goals in 48 appearances for Ajax during the 2009-10 season, and depending on just how swiftly he can adapt to Spanish ways, perhaps even those numbers will come within sight before long. After all, many put Suarez on a par with the likes of Lional Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Last season, Suarez missed the first six matches of Liverpool's campaign before going on to net 31 goals and make 12 assists in 33 Premier League appearances, per Squawka.

In truth, it was a very similar length in absence to the one he's enduring now, and without dealing Spanish defences an injustice, it's a common notion that prolific scorers fare better in La Liga for a reason, with Suarez promising to bring some evidence to that theory.

It's especially prevalent that Barca are in dire need of that main striking focus Suarez provides, too. Yes, the likes of Messi and Neymar can be superb finishers, but Suarez is a pure asset in that sense, one for and with whom the others can work to great benefit.

Following Barca's 0-0 disappointment against Malaga in September, Nik Postinger of We Play noted Enrique's need for a player boasting such attributes:

Nik Postinger @nikpostinger

I don't commit much time to La Liga and Malaga 0-0 Barcelona did little to sway my mind. Suárez can't come soon enough for the Catalans.

It's also worth noting Barcelona's increase in scoring potential compared to Liverpool. Brendan Rodgers' side were phenomenal en route to scoring 101 goals in the Premier League last season, but La Blaugrana have scored at least 95 for the last six seasons in succession.

What that promises is a boost for Suarez in all regards; he'll have better players working for him and better team-mates to provide for in kind, and that only promises to boost morale and production rates by correlation.

Admittedly, all of that success depends on the player staying fit for the remainder of the campaign. However, with a well-rested Suarez joining up now, champing at the bit to get underway, it's possible we may see his most potent version yet.

If all goes to plan, it shouldn't be long before Suarez is producing goals at a rate in which we've grown to see only the likes of Messi and Ronaldo attain of late, and it could come as early as this season.
