Mathieu Debuchy has completed his loan move from Arsenal to Bordeaux, handing him the chance to earn his spot with the French national team for the upcoming UEFA Euro 2016 tournament.

The Gunners confirmed the deal on Monday via a club release.

The 30-year-old saw limited playing time with the Gunners in the 2015-16 campaign due to the emergence of star youngster Hector Bellerin, and a January move always seemed likely. While the veteran provided valuable depth, he was eager to play more minutes to keep his chances of national team selection alive, per the Press Association, via the Guardian.

Debuchy joined Arsenal in 2014 to replace Bacary Sagna, who moved to Premier League rivals Manchester City. Injuries derailed his first season at the Emirates Stadium, limiting him to just 10 starts in the Premier League, per WhoScored.com.

He looked solid in limited action, but Bellerin took full advantage of his absence to establish himself as Arsenal's right-back of the future. The Spaniard has arguably been the best full-back in the Premier League this season―Goal readers even ranked him as the best right-back in Europe so far―giving Debuchy even more reasons to request a move.

The Frenchman remains a solid option at the position, combining strong physical tools with a healthy attacking output. Like most modern full-backs, his value lies mostly in what he adds to the attack, although he's capable of holding his own in one-on-one situations.

He's healthy and keen to make a strong impression early, making this a smart move with the potential to pay big dividends early for Bordeaux.

Arsenal's decision to let him walk is risky. Bellerin is a sensational prospect, but depth behind the youngster is limited. None of the available options have Debuchy's experience on the highest level, so manager Arsene Wenger has to hope his Spanish starlet can avoid injuries.
