This 1981 Puma GTC 1600 was produced by Puma Automóveis Ltda. of São Paulo, Brazil, and is finished in gold over brown and tan leather upholstery. Power comes from an air-cooled 1.6L flat-four paired with a four-speed manual transaxle, and additional equipment includes a brown soft top, 14” alloy wheels, front disc brakes, KYB shocks, a camber compensator, and a JVC CD/Bluetooth stereo wired to an aftermarket subwoofer. The car is said to have been sold new in Canada and spent nearly three decades with the prior owner before it was imported to the US in 2018. Over $13k worth of mechanical repairs were completed before it was acquired and re-imported to Canada in 2020 by the seller, who notes that recent work involved overhauling the dual Solex carburetors as well as replacing the distributor and spark plugs. This Puma is now offered in Canada at no reserve with manufacturer’s literature, partial service records, a car cover, and Alberta registration in the seller’s name.

The Rino Malzoni-designed fiberglass body is mounted to a Volkswagen Brasilia chassis, and this example was repainted in gold under prior ownership. LED headlight bulbs have been installed, and additional exterior details include a brown soft top, a matching top boot cover, a vented engine cover, and black side moldings. Paint imperfections on multiple body panels are shown up close in the gallery below.

A swing axle camber compensator and KYB shocks have been added while braking is handled by front discs and rear drums. Seepage is present from the steering box.

The bucket seats are trimmed in brown and tan leather, and they are complemented by a brown dashboard, door panels, and carpets. Per the seller, the armrest cover, shifter knob, hazard light switch, emergency brake handle, trunk lining, and floor mats were replaced under current ownership. A Bluetooth-capable JVC CD stereo was also installed, and it is connected to speakers in the center console as well as a subwoofer mounted behind the passenger seat.

The leather-wrapped Personal steering wheel fronts a 200-km/h speedometer, a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 80k kilometers (~50k miles), approximately 600 of which have been added under current ownership. The turn signals do not always self-cancel, and discoloration on the headliner can be viewed in the gallery.

The air-cooled 1.6-liter flat-four is equipped with Scat-branded valve covers and dual Solex carburetors, the latter of which were reportedly rebuilt in 2023. The vacuum-advance distributor and spark plugs are also said to have been replaced last year.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle. A 1.5-quart oil sump and stainless-steel heater ducts have been added under current ownership along with an exhaust system wrapped in heat-insulating material.

The vehicle does not have a title and is being sold on its Alberta registration, which serves as the ownership document in Alberta, Canada. A majority of the photos in the listing and in the gallery are dated from August 2023.
