This Mercedes-Benz R230 SL got away, but there are more like it here.
This 2005 Mercedes-Benz SL55 AMG is finished in black over black Nappa leather and was purchased by the seller from its third owner around 13 months ago. The odometer now shows 46,717 miles, and factory options include navigation, a 6-disc CD changer, Bose premium audio, Keyless-Go, an Alcantara headliner, Distronic cruise control, Parktronic senors, active ventilated and heated seats with massage, a panoramic glass folding roof, bi-xenon headlamps, and 19” AMG multi-spoke wheels, culminating in an MSRP of $138k. Power comes from a supercharged 5.5-liter V8 paired with a shiftable 5-speed automatic transmission. Over $6k has been spent in maintenance since January 2018, including new Michelin tires, engine and supercharger belts, refinishing the wheels, and more as detailed below. This Mercedes is being offered at no reserve with service records since the previous owner, three factory keys, a clear Carfax, and a clean Pennsylvania title in the seller’s name.
This SL55 has not needed any paint or body repairs to the seller’s knowledge, and the included Carfax is accident and damage free. One hairline crack at the bottom of the front bumper is shown in the gallery below, which includes over 100 exterior photos. Cosmetic modifications are limited to 3M tinted windows and clear front turn signal markers.
Factory-optional 19″ SL65 AMG-style alloy wheels are equipped, and a new set of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ tires were installed in January 2018 less than 900 miles ago. Each wheel was refinished and a 4-wheel alignment was performed at the same time. The brake fluid was flushed and new ceramic rear brake pads were installed in August 2017 at 44,950 miles, and the front brakes were lubricated in May 2018.
The black Nappa leather upholstery is accented by burlwood on the center console and door panels. This particular SL55 is optioned with a panoramic glass electronically folding roof. A new convertible top limit switch was fitted in May 2018.
Equipment includes active ventilated and heated seats with massage, a Bose audio system, bi-xenon headlamps, navigation, dual-zone automatic climate control, parking sensors, cruise control, power accessories, and more. The 5-speed automatic transmission can be shifted manually via paddles behind the steering wheel or through the gear lever. The trunk compartment is shown in the gallery and contains an OEM space-saver spare, jack, and tool kit.
Under the hood is a supercharged 5.5-liter V8 that produced 493 horsepower at 6,100 rpm and 516 lb-ft of torque between 2,750-4,000 rpm when new. The seller has removed the factory exhaust resonators but has kept the rest of the engine stock. In January 2018 at 45,900 miles the car received a new drive belt, supercharger belt, new main and auxiliary batteries, and new window weatherstripping. The most recent oil change was completed in August 2017 at 44,950 miles and the car passed a state inspection and emissions test in May 2018 at 46,700 miles.
Service records since the previous owner are included, and 20+ pages are shown in the gallery. The seller has spent over $6k on maintenance since January 2018, and has added approximately 3,200 miles over the past 13 months.
