Kenichi Matsuyama to star in Usagi Drop

August 8, 2010

This upcoming movie, Usagi Drop (Rabbit Drop), is a live-action adaption Yumi Unita‘s manga series of the same name. The movie will center around Daikichi (Matsuyama Kenichi) who learns that his deceased grandfather has an illegitimate daughter with an unknown mother. The daughter’s name is Rin (Ashida Mana) and she is only six years old. Everybody in Daikichi’s family looks at the girl as an embarrassment and wants no part of her. Daikichi, annoyed by his family’s attitude, decides to raise Rin by himself. Even though Daikichi himself has no experience raising a child and is still single …will play as the lead role and will have to raise a child in the movie.

Gosh, Mana is such a cutie and a great child actress. I’m in episode 3 of Mother and she has totally captured my heart. Kenichi is an actor on my watch list, I’ve only seen him in Death Note (though I never did finish it), 1 Litre of Tears, and Sexy Voice and Robo (didn’t finish that either). I’m looking forward to seeing these two in a movie together, I believe Usagi Drop is slated to come out next year. Speaking of next year, Kenichi will have two other movies out next year, GANTZ and My Back Pages.

  1. LOVE Matsuyama. He is a great actor and his portrayal of L was awesome. He did a great job in Death Note and I am planning on starting his Zeni Geba drama as well. So I am excited to hear about this movie and see more of him.

    • I know! I still need to get around to Death Note. I’m also looking forward to GANTZ and I need to read the manga or watch the anime sometime! Tell me how Zeni Geba is, it looks interesting!
