2022 Girls In The Game Luncheon with Keynote Speaker Jennie Finch Date Announced

Jennie Finch will be coming to Columbus State March 10, 2022.

COLUMBUS - Columbus State University is pleased to announce that the 2022 Girls In The Game luncheon, presented by the Hughston Clinic, will be held on Thursday, March 10, 2022.  The keynote speaker will be softball legend, Jennie Finch. Following the luncheon in the Lumpkin Center, Finch will host a youth softball clinic at Cougar Field.

Finch was a member of the 2004 Olympic Gold Medal USA Softball Team, as well as a silver medalist at the 2008 Olympic Games. In 2009, she was named USA Softball Player of the Year. Today, she serves as an ambassador for the game of softball and for female athletes.

"Attracting Jennie Finch to provide the 2022 keynote speaks volumes to the growth and impact of our important initiative. Not only is Jennie one of the foremost ambassadors of softball in the world, but her message of dreaming big and believing in yourself also aligns perfectly with the importance of participation in sports and the values gained from it," said Todd Reeser, Director of Athletics.

Established in 2015, The Girls In The Game mission is to advance and support Columbus State University's female student-athletes allowing them to reach their full potential academically and athletically while empowering them to become leaders in life. In 2019, eight female student-athletes were recognized as the first Girls In The Game scholar athletes and received scholarship support from the organization. Since then, 24 female student-athletes have received over $11,000 in scholarships. Past speakers include tennis legend Tracy Austin, FIFA Women's World Cup Champion Brandi Chastain, and World Golf Hall of Famer Annika Sörenstam.
