Agbim-Morocco CHAN 2014Super Eagles goalkeeper Chigozie Agbim, has said that he always had the feeling, that the team would claw their way back after going three goals down against Morocco, to win the tie.

The Rangers stopper conceded three quick goals in the first half, as the Eagles went in at half time, but Uzokchukwu, Ali and Uzoenyi all scored in the second half, before Mohammed’s late strike in extra time sealed a memorable win for the Nigerians.

“I knew we would come back because I know the kind of players we had,” he told KickOffNigeria after the game.

“I kept telling them we could do it and we had to push but I didn’t believe what I saw because they fought like wounded lions.”

Agbim, who had a more impressive second half, with a string of fine saves, revealed that he was determined not to concede more goals in the second half, to give the team a chance.

“I told myself after the first half that I must not concede another goal because I knew that the only way to keep the morale of the players high to score more goals is not to allow another goal.

“And I thank God that I was able to do that.

“I want to congratulate Morocco. They are a very good team, but they played the first-half, we played the second and God gave us the victory.

“Now we just have to keep working hard and try to win the trophy.”
