Rebecca Romijn was 'incredibly shocked' by John Stamos' memoir, won't help 'sell his books'

In her first public comments about her ex-husband's tell-all, the actress and model said she was "blindsided."

Almost three months after the release of John Stamos' buzzy memoir, If You Would Have Told Me, Rebecca Romijn is finally talking about her ex-husband's tell-all.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet of the Critics Choice Awards this past weekend, the Star Trek: Strange New Worlds star said she was "blindsided" by Stamos' book, which has prompted lots of discussion with its personal revelations and its depiction of his marriage to Romijn.

"I was very surprised by all of that, incredibly shocked actually," Romijn said. "But you know, I don't really want to help him sell his books based on those headlines. So that's all I really want to say about it."

Romijn was married to Stamos for seven years, starting in 1998. The Full House actor's book accuses Romijn of cheating during that time, while also saying Stamos felt "emasculated" as her career took off during a period when his was hitting a lull.

Romijn and her current husband, Jerry O'Connell, have remained largely silent on the book. However, O'Connell did say that he has no plans to read the book after hearing Stamos refer to Romijn as the "devil."

"In my mind back then, she was the devil, and I just hated her," Stamos told PEOPLE in October. "I couldn't believe how much I hated her." He went on to describe how he came around and realized that he had a part to play in their troubles as well.

If You Would Have Told Me also describes Stamos' struggle to get sober, his recollection of finding Teri Copley in bed with Tony Danza, and the revelation that Stamos was sexually abused by a babysitter in his youth.
