Diego Forlan claims he would be interested in a move to Major League Soccer, but has yet to receive an offer.

At one point in time, Diego Forlan was one of the most sought after strikers in all of world soccer. The Uruguayan was able to find the back of the net at will, impressing across Europe and South America. However, fans across the United States and Canada may soon be able to witness him plying his trade locally, as talk continues to heat up about a possible move to Major League Soccer.

While he may no longer be able to strike fear in opposing defences like he once did, the 36-year-old could still be a valuable asset for several MLS clubs. In a recent interview though, Forlan claims that he is still awaiting an offer, as he has yet to receive one.

“You see on television that MLS is a tournament that attracts attention and the level of football has grown a lot,” Forlan said at the oDeporte Total USA at the Univision Deportes awards on Sunday in Miami. “I still have not had an offer to come but we’ll see.”

Forlan has had quite the prolific career, playing for some of the planet’s biggest clubs, including the likes of Independiente, Manchester United, Villareal, Atletico Madrid, Internazionale, Internacional, and Cerezo Osaka.

He has also represented his country 112 times, before retiring from international soccer earlier this year. Forlan not only helped lead Uruguay to a fourth place finish in the 2010 World Cup, he was also a member of the team that lifted the Copa America in 2011.

While there are several MLS sides that could use the help in front of goal, it remains to be seen whether any team will step up to the plate and sign the Uruguayan legend.
