In his first year in the NBA, Cavaliers rookie has been on one of the most-watched teams in the league. So what’s it like being a first-year player on a team with LeBron James, Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving? Harris spoke to For The Win about Cleveland, his first big purchase and the differences between playing in the pros and in college.

Who’s the one player you’ve now played against/with, or seen up close that’s made you be like “damn, this dude is ridiculous.” Got a feeling who this might be for you (cough, LeBron James). If so, give me a moment or certain play he made that made you wide-eyed.

LBJ, no question. This man does some of the most ridiculous things I’ve ever seen on a basketball floor. Kyrie is not far behind though. LeBron is just more of a physical specimen … makes you wonder how a man of that size can move the way he does.

In terms of lifestyle, what have the biggest differences been between college and the league?

I’d say the biggest thing is just how busy you are traveling all the time. In college you might think you travel a lot, but it is nowhere close to the NBA.

How much do you miss having to get up and go to class everyday though?

I’ll put it this way — if I ever think I’m having a bad day I just think back to studying and some of the difficult classes I took at UVA and I thank the good lord for what I am able to do now. I miss UVA and Charlottesville a lot but not so much of going to class

Generic question, but what was your first legitimate big-boy purchase. After I got my first paycheck out here I bought a stainless steel trashcan for my room. It’s really dope.

I got a nice Vitamix blender which is unbelievable. With the amount of smoothies I make, it is definitely my best purchase thus far.

Similarities and differences between Tony Bennett and David Blatt. Both seem like very personable dudes, but promote different styles of play. Interested to know differences in their coaching/teaching philosophies.

They have similar coaching philosophies offensively, very adamant about sharing the ball and always playing with great pace, cutting/moving hard. Coach Bennett is obviously dealing with a little bit different personnel but they are both coaches that the players have a lot of respect for and really want to play hard for.

Important Question: Did you have to get a new phone/new phone number as to avoid people that you “kind of knew” in college who somehow had your number and now constantly text you asking you questions about playing in the NBA? Don’t lie to me, Joe.

No, I have never changed my number and I don’t think I will ever have to. If someone has my number that I don’t know and texts me a considerable amount I would just block the number.

I know it’s early, but favorite place to eat in Cleveland.

Cleveland has a lot of really good food, but there is this steakhouse called Red right next to my apartment that is phenomenal.

What other rookies do you talk to, keep in touch with? What’s something you all agree on about the NBA?

I keep in touch with all the guys that I was training with in Chicago during the pre-draft process; Nik Stauskas, Mitch McGary, Adrien Payne, and Dougie McDermott. We all got pretty close training together and we just keep tabs every now and then. You also get to know a lot of the guys from pre-draft workouts to the Rookie transition program, so I usually always have a chance to talk with a fellow rookie before our games.

Who’s your guy on the Cavs? In terms of player or coach that’s helping you make the adjustment and that you talk to and bounce ideas off of.

We have a great organization and culture, all the coaches and vets are always there to talk and help out. I’d say I spend the most time with James Jones, and Mike Miller though. We are all kind of the same position and have the similar skill set in terms of shooting the ball. I do a lot of my individual work with those guys and they are just really helpful, always encouraging and giving advice.

VERY IMPORTANT- K Love is a northwest dude, but has he been to Lake Chelan? I hope so.

No, he hasn’t and he needs to. The whole team is gonna have to experience Lake Chelan at some point.
