Abstract :

Hexachlamys edulis (Berg) Kausel & Legrand, "ubajay" is a native fruit species from South America belonging to the Myrtaceae family. Undoubtedly, it is a prominent species that provides potentially nutraceutical fruits, leaves with secondary metabolites of interest, and other organs with great benefits for human health and new alternatives for production systems. The aim of this work is to carry out a bibliographic review of all the scientific material published on this species to date. Research of this species could reveal and register its ethnobotanical potential. Key words: Ethnobotany, Myrtaceae, nutraceutical fruit.
