Joao De Lucca Named National Swimmer of the Week

CollegeSwimming.com has named University of Louisville swimmer Joao De Lucca as it's Men's Division I National Swimmer of the wee . Joao was a double event winner in the 100- (44.04) and 20- free (1:38.76) against Xavier University.
In regards to Joao De Lucca in the 100-free, head coach Arthur Albiero stated, "It is a pretty competitive time nationally (currently the fastest in Division I). He is a guy who continues to learn, he is humble, and he loves a good fight. He has big goals for this season and it drives the whole team too."
The London Olympian is off to a strong start this season against Xavier going 1:38.76 in the 200 free (he was 3rd at NCAA's last year), as well as on the anchor of Louisville's 200 free relay (20.21). He was joined on that free relay by senior Matt Schlytter, who split a 20.37, also on a rolling start.
In Louisville's A-medley relay, he split a 21.74 on the butterfly leg. Then, in the individual 100 free, he swam a nation-leading 44.04 to win. That includes turning in a 21.2.
