Imagine walking into your friend's bathroom, making yourself at home, and then spotting these fruity rolls lined up against the wall. You might think that some refreshments have been laid out for you in an unusual (or not so unusual, depending on your eating habits) place--not quite, but close!

"The Fruits Toilet Paper" comes courtesy of Latona Marketing, Inc., a Japanese design firm that has quite a few interesting products. While most people are probably already writing this off as "Japan is weird because Japan," there is actually some cultural reasoning to this cutesy toilet paper.
In Japan, companies often gift customers with household products, including toilet paper, as a symbol of appreciation for their continued support and patronage. Kazuaki Kawahara, who designed the The Fruits Toilet Paper, wanted to make a gift that would leave a lasting impression on customers. A statement on the Latona website reads that, "many companies and stores throughout Japan give a roll of toilet paper to customers as a novelty gift to show their appreciation. The Fruit Toilet Paper has been designed to wow customers with its cute style, perfect for such occasions."
Well, these certainly bring a unique sense of happiness to customers! Keep in mind, the Japanese word "fuku" has two meanings: happiness (福) and wipe (拭く)!
