Jacaranda cuspidifolia Mart., Flora II. Beibl. 25: 51 (1841).

Description

The fruits are sold as “frogs mouth” in the potpourri trade. Capsules are thick-woody, the margin undulate; interior with long, dark placental line, rest smooth and lightly furrowed except for the margin, which is rippled, exterior with the texture of very worn sandpaper (irregularly verrucose-coriaceous), 7-9 cm long x 5-6.5 cm wide.

Nativity and distribution

Jacaranda cuspidifolia is native to Bolivia and Brazil.
