The Pagani Roadster F is a custom built car made primarily of carbon fiber, of aluminum alloys, titanium, avional, chrome-molybdenum alloy and selected leathers. Some of these materials are transformed using the most advanced technologies, .

5

THE IDEA HAS BEEN TO CREATE A CAR THAT WAS LIGHT, SAFE, ORIGINAL YET OFFERING GREAT PERFORMANCE, USING THE BEST TECHNOLOGY AVAILABLE AND INSPIRED BY RACING CARS, THE SAME CONCEPT THAT INSPIRED THE CREATION OF THE FANTASTIC MIURA OF THE ‘60’S.

AERODINAMIC When it starts moving, the Zonda Roadster slices through the air with hardly any effort. Some of its power is used to force the this car down onto the tarmac resulting in a very strong ground effect, so that the tires are glued to the road, transferring all the car’s power and torque to it. According to a simple equation the grip is a result of the material’s friction coefficient times the applied force. This principle can then be turned into top rate performance if the tire size and the vehicle speed are record breaking. Aerodynamics of Zonda Roadster however are even more crucial where safety is concerned: when breaking for an emergency, when reaction times are even more critical and when road

holding can make all the difference. It’s not just about having a cutting-edge carbon-ceramic breaking system.

SHAPE OF THE DREAM FANGIO WANTED IT TO BE EQUIPPED WITH A MERCEDES-BENZ ENGINE AND HIS WISH HAS BECOME REALITY THANKS TO AMG WHO HAVE PROVIDED PAGANI WITH THEIR 12 CYLINDER ENGINE; A LIGHTWEIGHT MOTOR, WITH OVER 600 BHP AND 576 LB-FT OF TORQUE. Pagani checks the quality of each individual piece and collects the technical data to form a manual; one for each car, creating a detailed and faithful representation, much the same as an art-

8

Effective breaking is dependant on exploiting an array of forces; by utilizing the shock absorber geometry, the low center of gravity and the reduced weight, Pagani managed to keep the car as flat on the ground as possible while countering any pitching effect. This way even the rear tires remain stuck to the ground.

9

SAFETY AND COMFORT

The Pagani Zonda F a very reactive, safe car, with no roll to speak of. Through its Nardi steering wheel, one’s hands feel directly in contact with the road surface.

The electronics are kept to a minimum are the best quality ycan find in the weds of over 214 mph because thesh because these days no client wants an instrument of torture as his car. Nevertheless Pagani has never wavered from their original idea of quality and performance without compromise.

The name of ‘el coche’, the way he used to call the car, should have been Fangio F1. He followed the project with a strong enthusiasm, according to his ideas the F1 had to be innovative, safe and had to be powered by a Mercedes-Benz engine. He then passed away and as a sign of respect I did not dare to call the car Fangio F1 and I decided to name it Zonda Roadster, ‘el

10

The mind-blowing finish and fit is made possible due to the modern carbon fiber construction which has been Pagani’s forte in supercars for a long time now. Juan Manuel Fangio was much more than a great champion. His accuracy, his uprightness, and his human and technical sensibility were among his qualities, typical of the old-time men, they have been for me, an example and an inspiration source. Very often, I ask myself how something so material, like a drawing or a technical choice, can express and convey the philosophy of such a men.

viento de los Andes’. Today, after years spent in a rigorous search for perfection, the result is the Zonda Roadster F, a car that I wish to dedicate to Juan Manuel Fangio, the man who has made everything different.

More traditional devices include a one-piece fixed wing which now gets undisturbed air thanks to relocated mirrors. To help airflow underneath, a larger front splitter and rear diffuser with twin stabilizing wings create even more downforce. At the front of the Zonda Roadster is a much larger air intake to increase cooling effectiveness of the more potent V12 engine. To give the more power, a new induction system is used which replaces the standard Mercedes-Benz unit. It features larger intake apertures and, when combined with a larger, hydroformed exhaust, the 7.3 liter Mercedes-Benz engine reaches 620 bhp. This is up from 550 achieved with the standard Mercedes intake. A clubsport model is available as an option which increases power to 650 bhp @ 6200 rpm.

MAGIC MATIREALS FOR REALUTY Thanks to an original roof made out of carbon fibre and cloth (removable in a few seconds), Pagani explains that due to the use of carbon fabrics for the construction of the central chassis, bodywork and interior, it was possible to maintain the dry weight of 1230kg, which translates in a weight/power ratio of 1.89kg/hp for the Clubsport version. The Zonda Roadster F name is a tribute to the revered Argentinean race car driver Juan Manuel Fangio who helped develop many of Pagani’s Zonda super cars before his passing, and the vehicle has enough sheer grunt to hit 100km/h from rest in fleeting 3.7 seconds. Featuring a light and rigid vehicle body, the Roadster F posts such incredible performance figures thanks to the mighty 445 cubic inch Mercedes-AMG engine that resides behind the driver,

The niche Italian automaker suggest that from the cockpit drivers will enjoy a magnificent view, which is quite unusual for a super car. A NEW HEART “EVEN AT CONSTANT RACING PACE THE ENGINE WOULD HAVE TO COVER OVER 5.000 KM BEFORE SERVICING. THE CHALLENGE HAS BEEN ACCEPTED WITHOUT HESITATION.” The engine is built by the racing specialists at Mercedes AMG, where the championship winning DTM cars are born, as well as the CLK GTR, probably the most devastating and effective weapon ever to compete in the GT series. From it’s engine the Zonda R borrows the basic architecture including an ingenious dry sump allowing a low centre of gravity. This self-supporting engine with 750 hp at 8000 rpm and 710 Nm of torque carries a lightweight carbon fibre high- performance intake system, a racing multiple disc sintered clutch and Formula 1 style exhaust system, hydroformed in Inconel 625 and ceramic coated for optimal heat dissipation. The power unit combined with a 6 speed transversal manual sequential synchronised gearbox is designed to satisfy the most ambitious drivers.

THE CHASSIS: THE CENTRAL CARBON CHASSIS WILL INCORPORATE A ROLL CAGE AND A RUBBER RACING FUEL TANK WITH 4 FUEL PUMPS AND QUICK REFUEL FILLER LIKE ON GT RACE CARS. The wheelbase has been increased by 47mm to offer the best stability. The front and rear subframes are brand-new, built to accommodate a new suspension geometry, produced in avional. The magnesium forged rims with central wheel nut and a quick pneumatic lifting system allows fast and effortless changes of

â€œâ€Śa dream that has been transformed into a glittering realityâ€? Horacio Pagani has passion for cars, speed and design emerged very early and, at the age of 12, he amazed everyone with models of supercars carved from wood or modelled in clay. He made his debut into the world of racing cars when he was 20, designing an F.3 that competed in Argentina under the colours of the official Renault team. Then came an enormous number of industrial design projects in which he had an accelerated apprenticeship, combining a mixture of creativity and a maniacal search for perfection. He met Juan Manuel Fangio, his childhood hero, who became the right person to introduce him to Modena, the home of legends like Ferrari and Lamborghini. And the miracle took place at Lamborghini. It was engineer Alfieri who provided the young Horacio with the space to express his imagination and manual dexterity.

MODENA, ITALY - times may be tough, but exotic cars never go out of style.
