Charlie Sheen says he has been clean for almost six yearsAgencies
Charlie Sheen decided to be sober almost six years ago in order to make more time for his family.

In an interview, he said, "Next month, I'll be six years sober." I now lead a very regular existence. This decision was because i am a single parent to my boys Max and Bob, who are 14 years old.
The actor's protracted struggle with addiction was widely reported. In fact, he acknowledged that he used to frequently "add scotch in the coffee" and "love drinking in the morning."

He gets up "around 4:30 or 5 a.m." these days to help his kids get ready for the day, work out, and "get an early jump on the news."

Sheen, who is father to daughters Sami and Lola with ex-wife Denise Richards and daughter Cassandra with high school sweetheart Paula Profit, also shares the twins with his ex-wife Brooke Mueller.

Sheen claimed that after breaking a pledge he had made to his daughter while he was drunk, he made the decision to sober up.

Sheen, who claims to have quit using drugs long before he threw away the bottle, acknowledged that the process wasn't simple.

Sheen, who at the time was the highest-paid actor on television, lost his job on his popular CBS sitcom in March 2011 after launching a string of obscenities.

Sheen, who was engaged in what he described as "an epic drug run," used the expressions "winning" and "tiger blood" in a number of interviews during that period.
