Mercedes E320 CDi W211
W211 E320 CDi V6 Tuning

Hello,

Fellow Mercedes Enthusiast, i´ve got a V6 Om642 Diesel and it gives me
headaches...

My Car got fitted a Hybrid Turbo and also has no DPF and the AGR is Off... i also removed the Swirl Flaps...

Not to my Problem, my tuner Tuned my benzo but cant get more than 300-330 Hp out of that thing an 800Nm, how comes that if you try to give it more boost than 1,55-1,65 Bar (not sure tuner said something like that) the car doesnt want to take it?
Is there any Possible way getting more Boost, the Turbo can handle up to 2,20 Bar and should run on 1,85 Bar...
The Dyno below is with MAX Fuel so the car smokes like a old diesel train
The ECU got benched but still somewhere has to be a Limiter or something maybe you guys know more

Dyno of the Car with 1,65 bar boost and Max Fuel

Also the Turbo is nearly new got change 2 Times but in the Warranty, but the car goes to Emergency mode some times on the highway driving normal Speeds. After restarting it runs Normal again.
The Turbo got checked everything is fine with it it seems

Youi are trying to be smarter than 60 Mercedes engineers, who design those cars.
Good luck with that.

I am not trying to be smarter just by tuning a car?
maybe somebody has done that and I am missing something

Tuning MB engine means trying to gain few extra ponies with increased pollution, fuel consumption and lower reliability.
Additionally you are getting into area you have no qualifications for.
Not very smart IMHO.

W211 E280 CDI V6 manual gearbox
Hello Ice46, the engine can run with a lot of boost more. Something wrong with you tune. I think there is at least one turbo pressure limiter on the software that isn't change.

But more than this, I have to tell you that I seen many times that the first generation of OM642 on W211 can manage 750nm. Run more than 750nm could be dangerous and you can crack the piston head. Is your engine still stock ?

For me, you don't have enough boost with 1.85 bar to run 800nm. I don't know how many you inject, maybe 115 or 120 mm3 or more but it's a really to rich mix. So with 1.6 bar, I can' imagine the smoke at the exhaust ^^'.
Keep in mind that a smokeless performance is about 20-22 AFR (garrett website information) and 18 AFR for invisible smoke for you eyes. At the moment, you run at least at (2987/6*0.9*2600/1000)/115 = 10.12 AFR. The most rich original tune in OM642 for W211 is about 14.4 AFR. Here, you just waste a lot of fuel, but it's my own opinion. (OM642 can't do 700nm with 22 AFR because I think boost pressure will be too high)

One other thing, If your engine is stock, the maximum torque range of the engine is 1400-2400 rpm. I don't know if it depends a lot of the tune or the camshaft configuration, but you got the max torque very higher than original tune. It's a good thing for performances (automatic gearbox always kickdown), but I don't know if it's without risk for the engine. Maybe someone can give us some informations about that.

Then, your torque decreases a lot at high revs. What I saw normally is that 320 hp is about 700nm and 750nm about 350 hp, so with a little bit more torque at high revs. Your tune is a little bit "special" but interesting to see. Never seen something like this before.

If you want, I can take a view of your file and If it's possible for me to find the turbo pressure limiters I can change it. I think I know what they are.

PS : kajtek1, If you don't like the project, just no comment pls.
