Up for sale, a 1959 Gibson Les Paul Junior in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with a hardshell case. The solid Honduran mahogany construction delivers an acoustic voice that is extremely authoritative and clear, and the neck profile carve is the quintessential late-'50s baseball bat shape with plenty of meat and roundness.

Via the dogear P-90 pickup, this Gibson truly delivers on the brand's golden era reputation, with rich harmonic content, and a lively, midrange-forward growl. Featherweight at 6lbs 15oz, the instrument feels substantial when digging in hard, with a distinctive glassy top end due in part to the aluminum wraparound tailpiece. For sweet P-90 single coil tone that can range from chiming cleans to roaring, all out raucousness through your tube amp of choice, this guitar has a versatility and tonal depth that belies its simple appointments. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar and strung with 10-46 strings, this guitar features low action and effortless playability.

The one-piece Honduran mahogany neck has a round, inviting baseball bat C-shaped profile carve, yielding gobs of sustain and a rich resonance central to this Junior’s lively, vital response, measuring .895" deep at the 1st fret and .995" at the 12th. The Brazilian rosewood fretboard features the original medium jumbo fretwire which has good meat and well-rounded crowns, showing only a touch of wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-3. The guitar plays cleanly in every register up the 24 3/4" scale with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The original nylon nut measures 1 11/16" in width. On the headstock, the original Kluson Deluxe single line tuning machines are intact with clean nickel plating and their original white buttons. The original serial number is clearly inked on the back of the headstock, along with the gold silkscreen Gibson logo and "Les Paul Junior" script text on the headstock's face.

The original dogear P-90 pickup features a clean bobbin and original windings (metering at 8.95k ohms), and the solder joints are untouched on the harness, with the bumblebee capacitor bridging the CentraLab pots which date to the 41st week of '58. The lightweight aluminum wraparound bridge is present, as are all of the original plastic parts including the single-ply black pickguard and pair of black bonnet knobs.

The gloss nitro lacquer finish is 100% original with no touch-up or overspray, and the Cherry color is very strong on the face of the instrument, with even more saturation on the back. Cosmetic wear includes buckle rash across the back, and some small nicks on the body as whole. The gloss on the neck profile is extremely clean and smooth.

A vintage, circa 1970s Gibson black tolex hardshell case is included.
