Golden Retriever puppy is born with green fur

It’s easy being green for this puppy.

A Scottish woman was tickled pink when her 3-year-old Golden Retriever, Rio, gave birth last week to the pup with the verdant pelt, Metro reported.

“It was all hands on deck as the puppies started to arrive,” Louise Sutherland said. “We noticed one of them had green fur — we couldn’t believe it!”

The pup — aptly named Forest — was the only one in the litter of nine to have green fur.

Veterinarians believe the leafy glow is caused by a green bile pigment found in the placenta, and the color should fade within a couple of weeks.

There are only three other known cases of puppies being born with grassy pelts. In 2014, two dogs in Spain were born green and in 2014 a chocolate Labrador in Lancashire, UK, gave birth to a green pup.

Sutherland said all of Rio’s puppies are “growing like mushrooms,” and that she is planning on placing all of them – but Forest — in loving homes.
