Mario Lopez recalled a very painful moment in his TV hosting career — and it involved Ben Affleck.
The “Saved by the Bell” actor, 49, looked back on the “very awkward and uncomfortable” chat with the Oscar winner, 51, saying it was due to not being ready for the job early on in his career.
“One time when I interviewed Ben Affleck for a movie. I didn’t want to do it because I wasn’t prepared,” he dished to Us Weekly on Wednesday.
The Mexican-American entertainer went on: “And they said, ‘We don’t have anyone, you have to do it.’ I was like, ‘Oh, God.’”
Lopez quickly scribbled down questions to ask the “Argo” actor, however, the latter knew that the reporter wasn’t prepped.
“He was looking at me [like], ‘You didn’t see this, you don’t know what you’re talking about,’” Lopez said.
But Affleck was “cool” about the mishap, and Lopez admitted he “felt very awkward and uncomfortable” because he knew the “Gone Girl” star knew that he couldn’t handle the chat.
Lopez added: “He could see through me! And I’ll never forget that. And I was like, ‘Never again am I going to try to fake it.’”
The “The Bold and the Beautiful” star stepped into the Hollywood limelight in the 1989 TV show “Saved by the Bell,” playing AC Slater.
In the 2000s, Lopez scored a TV hosting gig on shows like “Extra,” “Access Hollywood,” “The X-Factor” and “America’s Best Dance Crew.”
He also interviewed A-listers such as Taylor Swift, Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, Justin Timberlake and Julia Roberts.
