Director Eli Roth and actress Lorenza Izzo are divorcing.
“It is with deep love and respect that we are choosing to separate as a couple,” the pair announced in a joint bilingual Instagram post on Monday evening. TMZ reported that Roth filed for divorce earlier in the day.
“We’ve had an incredible journey together, we love each other very much, and will remain the best of friends,” the statement continued. “We are grateful for the six wonderful years together but have decided to go our separate ways to have the most fulfilled, joyous lives we can.”
The 46-year-old director, best known for gory horror films “Hostel” and “Cabin Fever,” and actress, 28, wed in her native Chile in 2014.
The couple, who have worked together on “The Green Inferno” and “Knock Knock,” made clear they are going their separate ways so they can continue to collaborate in the future.
“We wish to continue working together creatively and are ultimately separating so we don’t f—king kill each other,” they added.
