Robin Williams Left Fortune to His Children and Wife

In his will, the late comedian leaves his estate to a trust for his kids, plus provides for his wife, Susan, according to their prenup

In his will, filed Oct. 15 in Marin County, California, Robin Williams left his estate to a trust for his three children – and also stipulated that his wife, Susan Schneider, be provided for under the terms of their prenup.

The late actor, who took his own life at age 63 in his Tiburon, California, home on Aug. 11, signed the will on Jan. 31, 2011. He directed his executors to “give my entire estate, in trust” to the Robin Williams Trust, which he established for his children Zak, 31, Zelda, 25, and Cody, 22.

Documents from 2009 show that at the time, the trust was set up to disburse funds to each of the children in stages: each child would receive a third of his or her share at age 21, half the remaining share at 25, and the rest at 30.

Williams also provided for Schneider, 50, whom he wed on Oct. 22, 2011, directing his executor to “fulfill my obligations” under their prenuptial agreement.

Meanwhile, a new coroner’s report says that when he died, Williams showed signs of having a form of dementia associated with Parkinson’s disease. “Neuropathy findings in this case support the diagnosis of diffuse Lewy body dementia,” a neuropathologist found. The condition can cause cognitive problems, depression and sometimes hallucinations.

Schneider revealed after Williams’s death that he had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. “He was brave as he struggled with his own battles of depression, anxiety as well as early stages of Parkinson’s disease, which he was not yet ready to share publicly,” she wrote in a statement.

His children have also paid moving tribute to Williams in many ways. On World Mental Health Day, Zelda wrote about the importance of ending the stigma surrounding mental illness. “Mental health IS as important as physical health, & whether there are visible signs or not, the suffering is real. It can affect EVERYONE,” she wrote on Twitter.

And Zak threw out the first pitch at a World Series game to Williams’s friend Billy Crystal. All three children said in a statement, “We could not think of a better way to celebrate his memory.”
