Dayna Bowen and Bryan Condy were married May 30, 2009, in the garden at the home of the bride’s parents in Scotts Valley. The Rev. Fred Hennes of Gateway Bible Church officiated.
Dayna and Bryan had been sweethearts since they were sophomores at Scotts Valley High School. They met at Friday Night Live, a student club, and started a campus recycling project that was recognized by the governor. Both of them graduated in 2005.
Dayna is the daughter of Megan and Brian Bowen and Steve Gilbertson, all of Scotts Valley. She attended Cabrillo College and works as director of children’s ministries at Gateway Bible Church in Scotts Valley.
Bryan is the son of Jondi Gumz and William Condy of Scotts Valley. He was the 2004 Scotts Valley Youth of the Year and earned an International Baccalaureate Diploma at Scotts Valley High School. He attended University of California, Berkeley, where he joined the Alpha Chi Sigma chemistry fraternity and earned a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering in 2009 with high honors. He is a lab analyst at Soil Control in Watsonville.
Bridesmaids were Rebecca and Savannah Bowen and Jamie-Lynn Lystrup, all sisters of the bride. The five best men were Cabel Dawson, Dustin Escoffery, Mike Maddux, Evan Lockwood and Kevin Alexander.
Many of those attending knew the bride from her work at Gateway Bible Church.
Relatives of the groom traveled from Wisconsin, Michigan, Oregon, New York, Nevada and Ohio. Special guests included the groom’s grandparents, Dolores and Bernard Ganz; Shannon Porter, the groom’s sister; Jane Bowen, the bride’s grandmother; and Brett Bowen, the bride’s brother.
The bride created a souvenir wedding program that featured photos of the couple at the UC Berkeley campus, taken by the groom’s mother.
