Deschanel made her mark in Hollywood back in 2000, when she starred in director Cameron Crowe’s Academy Award-winning film, Almost Famous. After her convincing performance as the sister of the film’s adolescent journalist, Deschanel went on to star alongside some guy by the name of Will Ferrell in Elf.
2005 provided the Zooey with the opportunity to appeal to the international geek contingent, by co-starring in the adaptation of A Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. Granted, more people read and loved the book than saw the movie, but Zooey added some necessary eye candy and talent to the proceedings.
The big-screen actress tried her hand at cable TV, scoring a memorable four-episode stint on Showtime’s Weeds. She followed that role, and the Yellow Brick Road, to star as Dorothy in SciFi’s Tin Man.
