Everton sign Bosnian Muhamed Besic

Everton has finally announced the singing of Bosnian Muhamed Besic today. The midfielder, who just finished representing his country in Bosnia's first World Cup, has made the move from Hungarian club Ferencvárosi TC for a reported fee of £4 million.

Everton have yet to reveal the details of the move, merely stating that Besic will be formally introduced as an Everton player when the squad returns from Thailand next week.

The 21-year-old was spotted at the airport ready to fly out and meet his team-mates, perhaps prompting Everton to make the announcement. Besic will train with the squad over the weekend but will not play in Sunday's friendly against Leicester.

Besic has been sought after by several clubs after a solid World Cup. Though Bosnia did not advance past the group stages, the country impressed against Argentina, Nigeria, and Iran. Besic was influential in all three games that saw his country win one match and lose the other two closely.

He has been linked with a move to Goodison for the past few weeks, with supporters waiting agonisingly for an update ever since the story broke. It is believed complications involving Ferencvárosi and Besic's former club Hamburg meant the deal could not be completed quickly.

The midfielder will be an asset to Martinez because of his versatility. Besic's main position is defensive midfield, but he can also play center back and right back. This seems to be one of those transfers where Martinez is taking care of several depth problems with one man. He now has an apparent solution if something happens to Seamus Coleman, the answer was never going to be John Stones, and it gives Everton a 5th center back.

The one downside to Besic is his reported temper. The 21-year old isn't exactly the most passive of players on and off the pitch. There have been several reports of a dustup with his manager while playing for Hamburg. But for the price, this has to be seen as a good deal.

Speaking to the official site, Martinez said:

"The next few days will allow Mo to meet the players, but more importantly it is an opportunity for him to get into optimum condition ahead of the new season.

"I am looking forward to introducing him to the Everton fans when we come back but first I would like to thank Ferencváros for the way in which they have approached the negotiations. They have been very understanding at this point and we have enjoyed a good working relationship."
