Billikens in the FIFA World Cup

A pair of former Billikens, Brad Davis (2000-01) and Vedad Ibisevic (2003), competed on soccer's biggest stage this month. Davis (United States) and Ibisevic (Bosnia and Herzegovina) represented their countries in the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

Davis started the match agaisnt Germany and was part of a USMNT side that captivated America by advancing to the Round of 16.

Bosnia and Herzegovina did not advance out of its group, but Ibisevic made a strong showing, scoring at goal in Bosnia's 2-1 loss to Argentina.

It was a rare occurrence to have two former players from the same school play in a World Cup. Even more, Saint Louis University has had a representative in the World Cup in each of the last six tournaments. Mike Sorber played in 1994, Brian McBride played in 1998, 2002 and 2006, and Sorber was an assistant coach for the USMNT in 2010.
