New Girl's Zooey Deschanel recalls unconventional first date with fiancé Jonathan Scott
New Girl actress Zooey Deschanel has opened up about where she went on her first date with fiancé Jonathan Scott — an escape room.
Deschanel and Scott, who is the co-host of the TV show Property Brothers with his twin Drew, met in 2019 while filming an episode of Carpool Karaoke. They performed Baby It's Cold Outside, which Deschanel sang in Elf.
Shortly after, the duo went on their first date and the couple opened up about this and their relationship together in an interview with People.

“I had actually never done one, and he kept telling me how much he liked them,” Deschanel said about escape rooms. “It sounded very much up my alley and I loved it right away. I mean, I wasn't good at the first one to be honest, but I've gotten pretty proficient.”
Deschanel also said that she admired Scott for sending her an itinerary for the evening, quipping: “I was like, this is my dream. I'm a Capricorn."
Scott joked that when he first posted a picture of him and Deschanel as a couple on social media, people were taken aback.

"I remember I looked at it and I saw the first comment right below was, ‘Why the hell is she with a Property Brother?!’ I was like, ‘Excuse me –rude!'" Scott said.
Deschanel replied: “Why wouldn’t I be with you? Our personalities are so compatible. It’s just that we’re from different worlds.”
Earlier this year, Deschanel announced that she and Scott were engaged by uploading several cute pictures of the two of them to social media. In the caption, the couple wrote: "Forever starts now!!!"
