Socks and Tights

One of the most defining aspects of Cassie’s style, is her collection of socks/legwear. Almost every one of her outfits included interesting socks or tights, so I thought I’d begin there. My first place to go if I ever need socks or tights is asos.com (free worldwide shipping & great quality goods!)

Another place I always check is topshop.com! At the moment they have an awesome range of glittery (or generally cute) socks and tights. Pink Lurex Ankle Socks, Taupe Silver Lurex Tights, Pink Pastel Spot Sheer Tights, Lurex Tights, Cluster Star Tights. They’re always having sock deals (3 pairs for 8 pounds, that kind of thing). And they have a good range of the more “graphic design” socks that Cassie sometimes wears (they remind me of socks I used to wear as a kid!)

Don’t forget white tights, and white fishnets either! She layers her socks/tights quite often. For example, white fishnet knee highs with the Metallic tights above would be something like she wore here: 

Shoes
I guess the next logical step is shoes, and Cassie has a fantastic shoe collection. Most of them are gold, and feature either laces or straps. Unfortunately, it means you just have to kind of wait to get lucky in finding a pair. I got a pair of golden glitter double strap flats for topshop a while back, but I haven’t been able to find anything much similar since. Goldenponies on etsy do make some cute shoes though & are available in a wide range of colours (below). However, she also wears some plainer shoes too, like t-bar flats, such as these & these. This type of shoe isn’t nearly so hard to find, and I’ve come across them in local shoe stores too. The thing about t-strap types of shoes, is that they are easier to wear with socks - especially layered socks & simply look better than ballet flats. Of course, if you aren’t into layering socks/wearing socks, there’s a bajillion cute pairs of ballet flats available that still fit the Cassie aesthetic! Like these, these & these. But honestly, I’ve never been into a shoe store/shoe section and not seen ballet flats. They’re everywhere.

Party wear

Otherwise known as: Cassie’s pretty dresses! They are usually gold or white, and contain floaty skirts and pretty beading. 

These ones can be a bit on the expensive side (usually because of the beading or more intricate details).

There were some instances in party/night scenes, where Cassie was wearing black, but she was in these episodes a lot less and it was hard to see what she was wearing. However the same rules apply really - glittery/sequinned black, that kind of thing. 

Casual day-wear
 

Cassie’s casual outfits tend to include a lot less gold & glitter, and more colour. She combines tops and basics like these (all individual links) with more more interesting pieces. The green top below has an appliqué design attached to it, which is super easy to do - here’s a tutorial! You could even stitch a heap of buttons onto the shirt. It’s up to you! You can find basic solid colour t-shirts anywhere for cheap. The above skirt also reminds me of something handmade - circle skirts are so easy to make. My mum has made a bunch of them & you can adjust lengths and that sort of thing very easily. There’s a tutorial here, but if you Google “how to make a circle skirt” there’s a neverending list of resources. Find one that suits you. You can find all sorts of cute or weird fabrics to make a skirt out of! Most of her skirts seem to be knee to midi-length.

Pleated skirts! Honestly, the first couple of times I wore a midi-length skirt (a bit below the knees), my sister commented on how it reminded her of Cassie.

Other non-pleat midi skirts I found: Animal Jaquard Skirt, Red Ditsy Floral Skirt, Waterfall Calf Skirt, Metallic Pleated Midi Skirt, Mustard Pleated Midi Skirt, White Cheesecloth Midi Skirt.  

To balance out all the bright colours, Cassie will usually wear a light grey cardigan or jacket, which I think is nicely neutral while still looking soft. Try this & this jacket. Again, though, it’s basic item and should be available in just about any store! 

Miscellaneous Items

Especially in the second season, we see Cassie in her underwear more often than not. She seems to wear slips/nighties a fair bit. I’m not as knowledgeable about where to get these, but I know there’s a mega range of vintage slips on esty.

• Here are some sailor collar tutorials (so you can make your own and attach it to a shirt/dress/whatever): one, two, three.
• As for make up, I’d stick to whites and creams - the only bright colour eyeshadow she seems to use is green - though of course you can use whatever colour you want/what suits you best! I noticed sometimes even her lip gloss has a glittery shimmer to it. 

On occassions Cassie does dress very casually, in more cosy-looking jumpers.

And that just about concludes it for Cassie! I really have only skimmed over the basics of her style, as it really is very intricate, and it a delicate mix of kooky and feminine. If you have any questions about anything here, or any requests for aspects I haven’t covered, don’t be afraid to ask!
