Former Espanyol defender Hector Moreno has revealed that his injury setback at the 2014 World Cup prevented him from joining Barcelona.
"Before the injury I had places to go," he told TUDN while confirming that he had strong links with Barca.
"It would have been different, there wasn't just basic contact with Barca but the chance of having signed before the World Cup.
"I felt well in all aspects, the tactical set-up and team-mates helped me a lot. But what happened happened, it was tough and I had to put my life on pause."
Moreno was injured while representing Mexico late in the first half of their 2014 World Cup round of 16 clash with the Netherlands and was ruled out for six months.
He eventually returned and joined PSV Eindhoven before leaving Roma and then Real Sociedad. He is currently in Qatar, where he plays for Al Gharafa.
