Jennifer and Ashley Tisdale to Produce Comedy in Development at CBS

Sisters Jennifer and Ashley Tisdale are set to executive produce a hybrid comedy in development at CBS from writer Joanna Quraishi, Variety has learned exclusively.

The untitled project would follow a millennial woman who sets off to get to know the Middle-Eastern culture and the family of her late father.

In addition to writing, Quraishi will serve as a co-executive producer. The Tisdales will executive produce through their Blondie Girl Productions. Blondie Girl will produce in association with Warner Bros. Television.

Founded by Ashley and run by Ashley and Jennifer with Kaitlin Saltzman as head of television, Blondie Girl Productions is a Los Angeles based production company that develops and produces television and digital programming with a focus on women. The company currently has a deal with Warner Horizon. It is also one of the producers behind Freeform’s “Young & Hungry.”

Quraishi most recently wrote for the CBS sitcom “Kevin Can Wait.” Her other writing credits include “Part Timers,” “Weird Loners,” and “Swamp Talk with Shrek & Donkey.”

Ashley is known for her role in the “High School Musical” franchise, and also for starring in “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody,” and lending her voice to the animated series “Phineas and Ferb.” Jennifer is primarily known for her acting work, having appeared on shows like “The Suite Life on Deck,” and the films “The House Bunny” and “Bring It On: In It to Win It.” She also serves as the executive vice president of development and production for Blondie Girl.
