Chris Evans (Actor)

Chris Evans, born June 13, 1981, is an actor known for playing Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. A Massachusetts native, Evans studied acting at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute. His first screen credit came in the TV series “Opposite Sex” before he made a splash in 2001 with his turn in “Not Another Teen Movie.” After a series of teen comedies, Evans entered the world of super heroes – though not as the leader of the Avengers at first. Evans joined Ioan Gruffudd, Jessica Alba and Michael Chiklis in the 2005 adaptation of “Fantastic Four.” Playing the hotheaded Johnny Storm, a.k.a. the Human Torch, Evans launched to a higher degree of recognition with moviegoers. Other notable credits ahead of his 2011 debut as Captain American in “The First Avenger” include “Sunshine,” “The Losers” and “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.”

Evans portrayed Steve Rogers across three Marvel solo films -- “Captain America: The First Avenger,” “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” and “Captain America: Civil War” – and made uncredited appearances in other entries. He took his final Marvel bow in 2019’s “Avengers: Endgame” and has since flipped into a series of more villainous performances, with turns in “Knives Out” and “The Gray Man” and self-deprecating cameos in “Don’t Look Up” and “Free Guy.” In 2022, he was named “Sexiest Man Alive” by People magazine. Evans has also directed; he helmed, produced and starred in the romance “Before We Go” alongside Alice Eve. He made his Broadway debut in 2018 with Kenneth Lonergan’s “Lobby Hero.”
