Austin Ejide Not Bothered By Enyeama Rivalry
Published: November 23, 2013
Austin Ejide has expressed delight at the Super Eagles qualification for the Brazil 2014 World Cup.
If Stephen Keshi names the 29 - year - old goalkeeper in his 23 - man roster to Brazil , he would be the first Hapoel Beer Sheva player to be selected for the showpiece event since the formation on the club.
“It will be my third World Cup, want to represent the group with respect .
“We think of how the team can get better with every game and play every game as if it is the World Cup. We want to make history in Brazil,” Austin Ejide was quoted as saying by sport5.co.il.
Austin Ejide is behind Vincent Enyeama in Stephen Keshi’s pecking order of goalkeepers and was on the bench acting as deputy to the Lille number one throughout the World Cup qualifiers.
“I do not decide which of us will play, but our coach., I do not think the fact that Vincent is playing in France gives him an advantage.
“Sometimes I’m number one and sometimes he is. It depends more on the desire of the coach,” he said.
At this point, it is still unclear if Ejide would be available for Monday’s game with Ramat Hasharon after he got injured in the friendly with Italy five days ago.
