As a physician now in my 30th year of practice, I have walked more miles than I can possibly count throughout hospitals, clinics and offices.I still walk about 5 miles on an average day. Mephisto shoes over the years have been a foot saver for me.I have owned several styles like the Rafael as I like the air circulation to my feet and the comfort they provide.Over the past few years I have added a gel heel cup which I place under the insert. I am a size US 9.5 but I buy a Mephisto size US 10 as my feet swell slightly towards the end of the day - I feel more confortable with a little extra room. I wear these shoes year round- in the winter months with socks and the summer months without socks.These shoes are dressy and they look in style with any sport coat- or jeans for that matter. They are great traveling shoes with the velcro strap-easy off and on through airport security when removal is required.

To be fair, I haven't really worn these sandals enough for them to be truly broken in. They are good looking, well made, and the velcro closure on the strap makes them easy on and off. I have wide feet, so I have to order a half size larger than I normally wear to accommodate the width unless the shoe comes in at least a 4E, which these don't. Therefore, there is about 1/2 inch of shoe left ahead of my toes, but this has not been a problem with theses sandals. A 9D is comfortable on my 8 1/2 4E feet. If you're looking for soft cushioning underfoot, these may not be the sandals for you. They are fairly hard, but this does convey a positive feeling of good footing. They are definitely on the dressy side of casual, not knock around sandals.

The shoe fit properly, was very comfortable, well made, looks good and the foot bed is very supporting of the arch and metatarsal areas of the foot. I have walked many miles in Mephisto shoes in some 44 countries, Africa, Asia, East Asia, S. America, and Europe. From Morocco to Turkey to Ukraine and beyond the Mephisto shoe has shown its worth. The Fisherman sandal just may be my favorite every day shoe it is so comfortable. Money well spent!
