About The Makers

Established in 1842 in Saint Petersburg, Russia, by Gustav Faberge, The House of Fabergé was a distinguished jewelry firm. Gustav's sons, Peter Carl and Agathon, along with subsequent generations of his family, continued to oversee the business.

Renowned jeweler Peter Carl Faberge, known for crafting exquisite objects for the Tsars, employed skilled. Today, the Faberge Company, initially in St. Petersburg and now with offices in London, Paris, and New York, continues this tradition.

In 1990, the Faberge Company appointed Victor Mayer GmbH & Co., a German jeweler founded in 1890, as the exclusive Faberge workmaster. With over 100 years of expertise, 60 craftsmen at Victor Mayer use 30 traditional skills, some unique to the firm. They hold the license to produce and sell Faberge Company's enameled 18k gold jewelry, marked with the coveted FABERGÉ hallmark.

Victor Mayer, a family-owned enterprise, is a leading European producer of handmade jewelry. Founded in 1890, the company blends tradition and innovation, preserving historical artisan techniques. Dr. Marcus O. Mohr, a fourth-generation Mayer, managed the company from 1990 to 2015, creating a new generation of Faberge eggs.

Victor Mayer's history dates back to its founder, Victor Mayer (1857-1946), who established the company in Pforzheim in 1890. The company's creative works spanned Jugendstil, Art Nouveau, Art Deco, and the late avant-garde. Victor Mayer's descendants, including Dr. Herbert Mohr-Mayer and Dr. Marcus Oliver Mohr, continued the legacy, obtaining the license to manufacture Faberge jewelry in 1989.

In 2003, Dr. Herbert Mohr-Mayer's son, Dr. Marcus Oliver Mohr, became the creative director and managing partner. The great-grandson of Victor Mayer now leads the business in the fourth generation. Faberge jewelry by Victor Mayer was exhibited alongside Peter Carl Faberge's works at the Metropolitan Museum, New York, in 1996. The Faberge Gdansk Amber Egg by Victor Mayer was featured in the Russian Pavilion at Expo 2000 in Hannover, and an exhibition at the Moscow Kremlin's Armory showcased thirty pieces of jewelry created by Victor Mayer in 2001.
