The first Fiat Punto was launched back in ‘93 with 1.1-litre and 1.2-litre petrol engines and a 1.7-litre diesel engine. The Punto knocked over the Volkswagen Polo with a surplus of 78 points for the 1995 European Car of the Year title. The second generation Punto was then released in ‘99 with a chassis and interior design change. The Grande Punto was released as the third generation model in 2005 with a facelift taking place in 2012. It now has trim levels on offer, a sleeker shape and offers decent space, but its build quality and performance seems to fall short against its rivals.
