"Kalahari- Safari" - Kalahari Resort (Poconos) Review

If you're looking for a domestic family-friendly getaway, Kalahari Resort in Poconos Mountains (Pennsylvania) is a great place to go, we're in Maryland and it was only about a 3.5 hour drive. My family and I had such a wonderful experience at this resort...It was myself, my husband and 2 of our children. There is something here for everyone to do..the lines to the rides were not long at all like the other Water parks in the area. They have an area for smaller kids, even infants.

One of my favorite areas was the adult only swim up bars with so many delicious cocktails... The arcade was huge and great for an evening activity, they have indoor miniature golf, indoor bowling alley and different scheduled activities throughout the day. There are so many new additions they were adding to their resort that should be complete now, this a pretty new resort, built July 2015. They have a sweet shop where they sell candy and ice cream. Souvenir and clothing shops, just in case you forgot to pack a swimsuit (saw some plus size swimsuits as well). Bathrooms and lockers were always clean never had to worry about wet nasty floors, but I would still wear water shoes or flip flops, I'm not to keen on walking around barefoot. The lockers also had a wet clothes spinner for your wet towels/swimsuits to remove excessive water and help your things dry quicker.

On this trip we decided to take a cooler with wheels to keep in our room with snacks and beverages....alcoholic too lol, that way we wouldn't have to keep spending money every time we wanted something quick. If anyone in your party have allergies to nuts, don't worry. I overheard one of the ladies working there tell a guest that all of the candy displayed contained peanuts and she handed them a basket filled with peanut free candy from behind the counter. You can enjoy a day at the spa alone, with your spouse or with some friends, great for massages, mani's & pedi's.

Check in was easy-breezy, check in time isn't until 4pm, but if you arrive early you can start enjoying the water parks at 12pm. Well we arrived at 9:30am, our room was ready and they were very clean, I still have a habit of removing the top comforter, spraying and wiping everything down with Lysol and using my own pillow cover (I can be a little germaphobe LOL). We were able to take advantage of everything right away when we checked in early, I found a groupon deal for $199/night for a Desert Room (sleeps up to 6) which included wrist bands for 4 guest. Wristbands are used for admission into the water parks, your key to your room and you have the option to add charges to your room so you don't have to carry your credit cards around, this Groupon deal also included $50 in arcade credits per day.

Admission just for the waterpark alone is $79/day/per person. So, you may want to get a package that includes admission. You can add two additional guest to your room for $35/each and they'll also get wristbands and breakfast. When We checked in they threw in an additional $100 in arcade credit, Large pizza and 4 drinks each night and free breakfast buffet each morning (I will be honest the breakfast was not that great) but they do have an omelette station which was decent and there is a lot to choose from (i.e. ham, Turkey, sausage, muffins, pancakes, waffles, grits, dry cereal, oatmeal, hash browns, fruit, etc).

Overall the experience was great, my daughter did not stop talking about it for at least month. 😊😊😊 I'll definitely be taking my family here again. Check out time is at 11 a.m., but you can stay to enjoy the water parks and pools until closing time which was 10 p.m.

P.S. My son spent most of his time in our hotel room, watching TV or playing on his phone, the TV does have Video game connections, so feel free to pack up the PS4/XBOX. He would go to the arcades briefly and to get food/snacks, he is not a big fan of water parks or amusement parks, but he probably would have enjoyed it more if one of his buddies went along with us. They have several Kalahari Resorts including one in Texas, Ohio and Wisconsin, this was an amazing getaway for our family and definitely a destination you and your family should check out.
