World Cup 2014: Volker Finke wants to stay as Cameroon boss

Cameroon coach Volker Finke brushed off questions about his future in the aftermath of his side's World Cup exit.

The Indomitable Lions lost all three of their group matches, ending with a 4-1 thumping by Brazil on Monday.

German Finke, 66, said: "I have my contract and am doing my job. Those are the essential things."

He has a year left on his contract and plans to "focus on the Africa Cup of Nations", with qualifying starting in September for next year's tournament.

"Cameroon have missed the last two Nations Cups," he said. "We qualified for the World Cup and now we are disappointed because we were unable to win a match.

"It doesn't feel good but now we need to focus on qualifying for Morocco in 2015."
