After nine seasons playing for Manchester United, Chris Smalling decided to join Roma on loan until the end of the current season.
The English central defender has played 22 matches up to now and has started all of that. The 30 year-old footbaler is playing very well and would not rule out the possiblity of continuing at the Rome based side.
Roma are seriously considering signing him on a permanent deal although the defender will only move subject to one thing.
According to 'La Gazzetta dello Sport', Smalling wants to play in the Champions League, so if Paulo Fonseca's men do not qualify for next season's tournament, he could return to Manchester United at the end of this campaign.
