Chevrolet has a long history of building quality vehicles at affordable prices. In fact, that history stretches well over 100 years. Chevrolet has always tackled combining practical design with capable performance, helping the brand usher in its unbridled reputation for automotive innovation. The Chevy Silverado 1500 has been the crown jewel in the brand's lineup for over two decades, quickly rising to popularity thanks to its ability to meet the needs of everyday truck drivers. The 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500 keeps the legacy going with nine knockout trims: the WT, Custom, Custom Trail Boss, LT, RST, LT Trail Boss, LTZ, High Country, and ZR2. With the Silverado, truck enthusiasts can finally have the vehicle that has it all.

Chevrolet has made some improvements to the 2023 Silverado 1500 while maintaining the attributes that have made this truck one of the best in the entire segment. The Silverado 1500 ZR2 trim has been elevated with the addition of the Bison edition. Another change for the 2023 model year is the available Duramax 3.0L turbo-diesel engine, which now has more horsepower and torque. The Duramax diesel powertrain can be added to every trim except for the WT, Custom, and ZR2. This Duramax engine comes with new pistons, a stronger combustion bowl, and updated fuel injectors. Other updates to the 2023 Silverado include advanced trailering technologies and a standard Durabed that's strong, rugged, and ready to exceed your expectations.

    All About Options

The 2023 Silverado 1500 is all about options. That extends to having several choices for your perfect powertrain. Get the right amount of power and performance you want without sacrificing the efficiency you need. You can outfit your Silverado with a turbocharged I-4, the Duramax turbo-diesel, or one of two available V8 configurations. Every engine comes paired with a high-performing, rugged chassis and impressive handling. The Silverado is ready to work as hard as you do. With tons of helpful features that make it easier to drive, haul, and go off-roading.

    Four Available Engines

The smallest available engine in the lineup is a 2.7L High-Output Turbo I-4 engine, which delivers 310 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque. The turbo configuration contributes to this engine's speedy pickup and makes it the most fuel-efficient of the gas-powered options. The 2.7L is rated for up to 19 MPG in the city and 22 MPG on the highway, which are fairly generous figures for a truck of this size. The eight-speed automatic transmission seamlessly moves through gears, giving you a smooth experience every time.

Moving up to the 5.3L EcoTec3 V8 gets you 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque. The other optional V8 is a larger 6.2L EcoTec3 with an output of 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. Both V8 engines come with 10-speed automatic transmission setups. Finally, you can opt for the newly improved 3.0L Duramax I-6 turbo-diesel, which now delivers 305 hp and 495 lb-ft of torque. By far the most fuel-efficient of the four engines, the Duramax is rated for an EPA-estimated 24 MPG in the city and 29 MPG on the highway. The diesel option is also the least noisy of the bunch, providing the quietest experience in the cabin.

    Towing and Payload

We can't talk about truck performance without discussing towing capacity and payload. While exact figures vary depending on the engine and trim level, the 2023 Silverado 1500 offers a maximum towing capacity of 13,300 lbs and a maximum payload rating of 2,260 lbs. To get that max towing figure, you must choose either the 6.2L V8 or the 3.0L Duramax. However, even the base Silverado with the 2.7L Turbo can still handle up to 9,500 lbs of towing capacity.

Thanks to Chevys' various technological advances, towing has never been easier. Get the most out of towing with the standard Trailering App. The app allows you to create custom trailer profiles, access a pre-departure checklist, run trailer lighting diagnostics, and monitor trailer tire pressure and temperature. The available advanced trailering features include Hitch Guidance with Hitch View, hitch area lighting, hookup assist, an integrated trailer brake controller, and a Trailer Theft Alarm.

    Enhanced Capability

One of the most valuable qualities of a pickup truck is its capability. The 2023 Silverado 1500 is loaded with technologies that help it deliver peak performance whether you're venturing on your daily commute or engaging in an off-roading adventure. Besides having a generous suite of standard safety and driver assistance features, there are even more great options to add depending on trim and available extras packages. You can outfit the Silverado to your exact specifications and let it do the hard work for you.

When it's time to work, you'll love the standard StabiliTrak traction control and related assist features. This system includes Trailer Sway Control, Hill Start Assist, and Auto Grade Braking to help stabilize your trailer and handle steep inclines. There is also a Tow/Haul mode that will adjust transmission shift points to maximize torque. These tools assist when it's time for you to take advantage of the Silverado's incredible towing capacity.

    Improved Safety

Since Chevrolet knows drivers prioritize safety, the 2023 Silverado 1500 also comes with a suite of standard driver-assist features referred to as Chevy Safety Assist. These features include Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian Braking, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Alert, IntelliBeam automatic high beams, and a Following Distance Indicator. Additional safety and driver assistance features on higher trim levels include Rear Cross Traffic Braking, Trailer Side Blind Zone Alert, and Super Cruise hands-free driving.

    Comfortable and Convenient

Chevrolet designed the 2023 Silverado 1500 to be comfortable and packed full of convenient features. It is designed with soft yet durable materials that can handle whatever you throw at them. While the WT model is built for simplicity and pure functionality, you get a wide selection of luxurious add-ons that will elevate your Silverado to the next level as you move up in trim levels. But even at the most expensive High Country trim, the Silverado never loses its sense of practicality.

Across every trim, the Silverado has a generous amount of space to comfortably fit you, your passengers, and all your belongings. The standard bench seats can seat up to six people, or you can opt for bucket seats for increased comfort. Depending on the trim, the seats come in vinyl, cloth, or leather upholstery. Each truck has enough cargo space to accommodate a long road trip with your suitcases, camping supplies, sporting gear, and more. Plus, the Silverado offers a range of bed sizes to satisfy every truck driver.

    Stay Entertained on the Go

The 2023 Chevy Silverado is built to keep you entertained on the go. Every model supports connectivity with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and you can take advantage of a mobile hotspot. The infotainment center has a combination of physical knobs and a touchscreen that's simple to customize. The infotainment layout feels intuitive and allows you to adjust settings without distracting you from driving. Starting with the LT trim and up, the infotainment center features a horizontal 13.4-inch touchscreen with Google built-in and Amazon Alexa integration. This is complemented by a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster.

The 2023 Silverado 1500 allows you to customize your driving experience with nine great choices of trim. Drivers looking for simplicity and minimal features will love trims like the WT, Custom, and Custom Trail Boss. These three trim levels offer helpful features like EZ lift power and release tailgate, 40/20/40 split front bench seat with upholstered armrest storage and under-seat storage, and durable, easily-cleaned vinyl or cloth seats. Higher-level trims like the LTZ, ZR2, and High Country feel ultra-luxurious with features like eight exterior cameras with 14 available views, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a Bose premium audio system, and authentic open-pore wood trim throughout the cabin.
