FRISCO, TEXAS – FC Dallas announced Tuesday the signing of center-back Reto Ziegler from Swiss first division side FC Luzern.

The 31-year-old, who started his professional career with Grasshopper in 2002, has spent the last four seasons in Switzerland’s top league, including one with Sion.  He has also played in Italy (Sampdoria, Sassuolo), Turkey (Fenerbahce), Russia (Lokomotiv Moscow), Germany (Hamburg) and England (Tottenham Hotspur, Wigan Athletic).

Ziegler has earned 34 caps for Switzerland and was part of two FIFA World Cup squads (2010, 2014), starting all three games at South Africa 2010.

In 2018, FC Dallas will make its second straight Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League appearance, opening play in the Round of 16 against Panama’s Tauro FC (1st leg: February 21, away; 2nd leg: February 28, home).
