Two-time NCAA champion Jaoa De Lucca has moved on from the University of Louisville. In the pool, not much has changed.

The 2013 and 2014 200-free winner registered a record-breaking win in the event Wednesday night at the Pan American Games in Toronto. De Lucca won in 1:46.42, besting the previous record 1:47.18 set by Brett Fraser in 2011. The mark also represented a record for his home nation of Brazil, nipping the 1:46.57 from the 2009 World Championships.

De Lucca also gave Brazil the lead at the halfway point of the 800-free relay. Brazil went on to win that event in Pan Am Games record time, too: 7:11.15.

Two current Cardinals competed as well on Wednesday, with Carlos Claverie sixth in the 200-meter breaststroke for Venezuela in the A-final, going in 2:13.22. El Salvador's Marcel Acosta finished this in the 200-freestyle's B-final with a time of 1:50.95.
