Before
Michelle and her husband built their dream home and moved in December 2013. Before they had moved, Michelle was teaching preschool out of their home and wanted to continue in their new home. The room was designed to have a door and access from the outside of the home so the students could walk right into the classroom.
She taught preschool Monday through Friday and says she has taught hundreds of children in her area aged from 3 to five years old.
During the pandemic in 2020, Michelle had time to reflect and think about long term goals. Although she loved teaching, the children and families she had come in contact with, she realized her ultimate goal was to run a successful shop and business.
To jumpstart her business, she bought a sublimation printer, a heat press and started learning new skills for her shop. At the same time, she was still teaching until May 2022. On May 27, 2022 she hung up her teaching hat because the business was getting busier and felt as if it was the right time to make the switch.
After the last day of school, she got right to work transforming the classroom into her beautiful, in-home office and workshop. Organization, storage, lighting and adequate working areas were a top priority for her and because she wanted to keep cost low, they did all the work themselves.

The paint color for the walls is Buckwheat Flour by Martha Stewart. Martha Stewart doesn’t have a paint line anymore, but Sherwin Williams will mix this color using their paint.
The first set of cabinets you see are unfinished cabinets from Home Depot that was painted with Sherwin Williams Pro Classic Enamel and the countertops are from @montgomerycustomcabinets in the color Grey Mesh.
After that, Michelle got to work on the DIY craft room island. This has a ton of storage and ended up being 4′ x 8′ in size. Particle board was used from Lowe’s, Sherwin Williams paint and a rug underneath from @loloirugs.
The white slat wall took less than 2 hours to complete and it gave her all the room for organization… plus it’s visually appealing. She loves how organized, functional, bright and clean the craft room is. The slat wall kit, bins, hooks, baskets and accessories are from @garageroyalty.
Always Be Creative Script Wood Letters
To go above the slat wall, Michelle added our Script Wood Letters that say, ‘always be creative’. The font is Apricots and is a fun, trendy, handwritten font.
A ebony stain was used on the Baltic Birch Wood Letters to still let the natural wood grain shine. Since the stain is darker, it really pops and contrasts from the taupe walls, making it a focal point in the room.
She sized the wood letters to fit perfectly over the slat wall. Not too big and not too small. It’s perfection.

Wood Hoop Sign
Next to the slat wall, Michelle hung our Wood Hoop Sign that says ‘inspire’.
To add some of her own style to the hoop sign, she added a heart macrame, some greenery and a simple burlap bow.
