After experiencing a painful divorce in 2013, professional snowboarder Torah Bright was open about the huge toll it took on her life.

Now, the 28-year-old Australian Olympic champion and smitten newlywed has revealed the details behind her whirlwind romance and marriage to husband Angus Thomson for the first time. 

The pair, who announced their engagement in May, married two weeks ago in an intimate ceremony in Cooma - Bright's hometown.

'I do like to share. But this one I've been keeping close to my heart, and probably I'll continue to do so,' Bright told The Daily Telegraph.  

Bright's decision to keep her private life out of the spotlight comes two years after her divorce to fellow snowboarder Jake Welch - a marriage breakdown that left her heartbroken yet hopeful for the future.

The young athlete soon found the love she was looking for with Angus Thomson, the director of brand development at Thredbo, where she is the resort ambassador.

'I get the full Symphony with this man,' Bright wrote next to a snap of the happy couple two months ago.

'Life is bliss with this man,' she wrote on another. 

Thomson recently shared an intimate wedding photo on his own Instagram - Bright pictured in a flower crown and locking lips with her new beau.

'When u marry your best friend [sic],' he wrote. 

But the newlyweds have accepted that with their new matrimony comes lengthy times apart.

Bright is currently in France with her sponsor Roxy and will be spending her summer in the northern hemisphere - both in Europe and the US.

'It can be hard, but we try and make it fun,' Bright said, 'it's kind of fun sometimes to go off on adventures.'

'Then, when you come back, everything feels fresh and new and grand, and it keeps on being that way - it's awesome.' 

Bright will host Roxy’s upcoming Run Sup Yoga event at Manly on October 24, before jetting off to chase the snow.
