Ki to victory: Swansea midfielder Ki Sung-yueng will be a pivotal component of South Korea's challenge
Fallen out of favour: The 25-year-old has spent the season on loan at Sunderland from Swansea
END OF TERM REPORT: Ki was surplus to requirements at Swansea, but Sunderland were glad to stop the midfielder from gathering dust. In fact, they want him back at the Stadium of Light, but not before the 25-year-old plays his part in Brazil. Ki came good in the Capital One Cup quarter-final against Chelsea. He was fed the ball and, shifting his weight back to the right to deceive Michael Essien, slotted the ball home coolly to earn Sunderland a 120th-minute winner. It was Ki, too, that helped the Black Cats survive relegation before injury cut his season short. But he’s back, he’s fit, and he’s ready to take charge in Group H alongside Russia, Algeria and Belgium.
GRADE: B+

KEY STAT: Ki has played 254 times, scoring 24. He is known more for his vision and passing in midfield.
Leaper: Ki has 57 caps his national side, scoring five goals
Belief: South Korea will be hoping to match their best ever World Cup on home soil in 2002, when they reached the semi-final
