At the 2023 Japan Mobility Show, Japanese manufacturer Daihatsu focused on “redefining the relationship between cars and people” with a series of four concept vehicles. One was the Me:Mo, a mini passenger EV whose design can be changed and adapted to the owner’s new taste.

The goal is achieved through a modular frame that lets users remove or add parts to the car, including elements that the drivers and passengers can design themselves and 3D-print. 
The modularity isn’t limited to aesthetics, as users can also decide to rethink the entire interior of the car by rearranging seats to turn the vehicle into a more spacious transporter or a family car with more seating available. 
The concept also explores customization to enhance the car’s longevity.

“We changed the way cars were manufactured and made it possible to modify not only the design but also the form of the vehicle by constructing a modular structure of interior and exterior parts with necessary and sufficient functionality”, explained Daihatsu Motors. “This has allowed us to create a sustainable car that can be used for an extended period. Its style and sense of enjoyment can be adapted to different stages of life.”
