World 1500m record holder Anni Friesinger has threatened to boycott participation in team events after the German speed-skating federation banned the women's and men's teams from training together.
Both the 29-year-old, and arch-rival Claudia Pechstein, train with members of the Germany men's team, and Friesinger slammed the federation for their decision.
"The people responsible don't want to speak with anybody about it, and won't consider anyone else's opinion," she fumed.
"Maybe I will make my participation in the team races this season dependent on the extent to which the federation co-operates. There, it's the federation who profits from us speed-skaters, and takes in money through sponsorship."
But Pechstein refused to back her team-mate's stance, commenting:
"I don't really approve of what she said. We are Olympic champions and world record holders, and have to show responsibility."
The first World Cup race of the season begins in Heerenveen, Holland, on 10 November.
