Here's a spooky little Darkstalkers Easter egg to enjoy as you wait for Halloween tomorrow

Phobos has two different Midnight Bliss transformations

Demitri's Midnight Bliss special move in the Darkstalkers series is one that sees his opponent transform into a young female version of themselves when it hits. Each fighter turns into something different, whether it be a nurse or a mermaid, and with moves like this there's always an interest from fans to see all of the possible variations of it.

In the Japan-only Vampire Savior 2: The Lord of Vampire, sub boss character Huitzil (or Phobos, as he's known overseas) actually has two different transformations. This cool little Easter egg was shared by ohfivepro, and it's the perfect spooky "did ya know?" fact on the day before Halloween.

Demitri's classic special move is performed by hitting down, forward, down-forward + any two punches in the Darkstalkers series. Depending on which two punches you use on Phobos, however, it'll affect which transformation you get.

The standard version you'll get of Phobos is that of what appears to be a Mayan princess. But if you land the move by hitting light punch and heavy punch specifically, Phobos becomes a school girl in gym clothes.

Not only is the visual different here, but the animation changes too. Demitri lifts the former by her wrists while he drains her blood, but the school girl is hoisted up by her shirt collar.

Based on Phobos' background, it makes sense why the killer robot becomes a Mayan princess. Phobos is one of an army of destructive robots built by Pyron 65 million years ago.

The Huitzil were designed to destroy all life on earth, and after successfully wiping out the dinosaurs were trapped deep underground following a giant earthquake. In 520 A.D, one of the Huitzil was unearthed by the Mayans and used as a guardian of Central America.

As far as the modern schoolgirl transformation goes, at the end of the day it's interesting to see that Capcom took the time animate another sequence there for the sub boss.
