Style Inspiration: Jane Birkin

Jane Birkin is a well known actress and singer from the 70s and 80s known for her films Death on the Nile (1978), Evil Under the Sun (1982), and many more.

Beyond her talent as an actress, Birkin is an influential style icon. Her effortless yet composed look has captivated many of us over the years.

Did you know that the infamous Birkin bag was named after Jane Birkin?

Hermès chief executive Jean-Louis Dumas sat next to Jane on a fight. She had her famous straw basket as her carryon, which ended up spilling all her contents. Jane mentioned how she had not been able to find a bag that suited all her needs… thus Birkin Bag was created.

Although the bag has stood the test of time, Jane still chose her basket bag. Our Anouk Grewal handwoven African totes are reminiscent of her basket, so, we get it!

A babydoll dress is a great style for spring and summer. Pair it with a basket bag to complete the look!

It doesn’t take much to look put together. All you need is jeans, white button down, belt, and bag!
