Am I the only one who still can’t get over the fact that Blair Waldorf and Seth Cohen are married in real life? In a rare interview, Leighton Meester opened up about her marriage to Adam Brody—nearly 10 years, and two kids, in.

When asked about her marriage recently by E! News, Meester called it a “normal relationship—with all the good and the hard.” The Gossip Girl star added that she and her husband “just make it work” no matter what.

She continued, “We’re super, super lucky, and I think we recognize how lucky we are with one another. We give each other a lot of respect and time and attention and focus. Like, really put our time and energy into a relationship.”

The ultra private couple met years before they began dating and were even in The Oranges (2011) and Life Partners (2014) together. Eventually, Brody made a move, and the relationship turned romantic.

During a recent appearance on Penn Badgley’s Podcrushed podcast, the O.C. star looked back on how he first met his wife—and how she didn’t seem that into him.

“I think the first time I saw her is when I met her at Canter’s, the deli in Los Angeles; I used to eat there all the time. I was smitten instantly,” Brody said. “And I was, you know, smitten for a long time. I didn’t get to know her for many years after, even though we even worked together briefly. She remained elusive to me for so long, you know, and aloof.”

He joked that now, Meester insists she too was crushing on Brody, but that he’s not so sure. “I couldn’t get a total read because even though she professes to have been interested in me and all those things, not only did she not pursue that—I mean, she was perfectly willing to let that never happen. … She was perfectly willing to let that message in the bottle return to sea at several points.”

In the end, the two married in February 2014 and have since welcomed two children: daughter Arlo, born in 2015, and a son whose name has not been revealed, born in 2020.
